About Joseph Qi

I've lived in Lakeshore and Windsor for over 35 years and raised my family here. As a long-time resident, I understand the issues facing Ward 2 firsthand.

I'm approachable, reliable, responsible, and trustworthy, with an open-door policy and a belief in clear, honest communication. I'm confident working with anyone and everyone with the abilities I've built over years of professional experience and community volunteer work. I believe in a data-driven approach to make informed, sound decisions. My goal is to make Lakeshore an even better community to live in and enjoy.

Outside of work, I love being active, spending time with family and friends and getting involved in the community.

Education

I graduated from the University of Windsor with a Master’s Degree in Industrial and Manufacturing Systems Engineering. My education has given me the analytical foundation to look at problems from every angle.

Professional Work Experience

I worked at Navistar International as an Industrial Engineer, then spent over a decade at Ford Motor Company in both Canada and the U.S., holding a range of positions including Industrial Engineer, Project Engineer, Production Supervisor, Maintenance Supervisor, Six Sigma Master Black Belt, and Team Manager, eventually rising to Manager running an engine plant. I then moved to CTS Corporation as General Manager, and was promoted to Vice President of Global Operations three years later. I currently work at Leggett & Platt Automotive as Vice President of Global Quality and Safety.

This decades-long career of solving complex operational problems and improving efficiency is the same discipline I'll bring to managing Lakeshore's infrastructure, budgets, and long-term planning.

Community Involvement

As one of the founders, I helped establish the Chinese Association of Greater Windsor in the 1990s and have contributed to both the Canadian and Chinese communities as its President. I've also served as one of the Directors on the Board of the Essex County Canadian and Chinese Association. Since last year, I've served as a Board Director of the Multicultural Council of Windsor and Essex County. Additionally, I actively participate in and help organize fundraising events for The Fancsy Family Hospital.
